New Team Shelter
Thorncliffe Bowling Club want to raise money towards their latest project, another Team Shelter for the lower green, with an expected cost of just under £6,000. Foundations are complete and the shelter is due to be erected by 25th May.

In March this year Lynn Duncombe agreed to take on the role of securing funding and started visiting businesses in Chapeltown and High Green, hoping to persuade them to advertise their business at the green, and support the club financially at the same time.

Lynn wasn't having much luck until she decided to try Lishmans LLP (accountants to Thorncliffe Community Sports, and formerly known as Eura Audit UK), a long established business in Chapeltown. They weren't interested in advertising, but wanted to support the local community and very generously donated £100.

She then heard from the Active Chiropractic Clinic on Loundside, who she had visited two weeks previously, and who were interested in advertising. She had discussions with their Practice Manager, Shellie Fleming, about the size and design of banner, and two weeks later their Directors Drs Claudia D'Aloia and Kerrie Fleming came up to the green, and we fixed their banner to the railings behind the bottom green. They were very happy with the outcome and donated £150 for the advertising space.

Lynn is continuing to look for more advertising, and would be grateful if anyone knows of a business who would be interested.

She has also applied to Tesco Foundation (the carrier bag scheme) for a grant to help towards the shelter cost. The application has been accepted so far, as a scheme they would be interested in supporting, but is now awaiting the full Foundation Panel approval.
